This will probably be a constantly updated thread.

1. EMBEDDING LINKS and PiICTURES.

In order to embed links to other sites, pictures etc. the only requirement is that you always have the "http://" prefix in front of the address, nothing else.

Examples:

Link - http: //www. yoursite .com (WITHOUT spaces).

Your URL link will then automatically show up as "Link" in your post. The title "Link" can be renamed, just edit your post and replace the word "title" with the desired name.

Picture - http:// www.yoursite.com /yourpicture.jpg (WITHOUT spaces)

You can also upload a picture directly from your PC and embed it into your post ... without further modification.
When writing a post just click "upload picture" and select it from your hard disk.
The picture will be embedded at the exact position your cursor was last at in your post.
This picture will also be included in your photo album, thus adding to the used space in your total quota of 10 MB (see below).

2. PHOTO ALBUM.

You can upload pictures directly into your photo album.
The maximum size allowed is 200 kb per picture.
Each member has an initial disk space of 10 MB available for pictures.
Therefore, if on average your pictures are 80kb each in size, your album will hold a total of 125 pictures.
In order to embed a picture from your photo album into a post ... click on the "upload photo" button and then select the "use photo album" button to select picture from your photo album.

3. Saving a post for later

When composing a post/reply, you can now save it for later (days, weeks etc.) and re-edit/save it as many times as you like before submitting it.
Just click on the "save for later" button from within the editor.
It will be saved in the "My home" section (click on "edit" and it will automatically take you back into the editor, just as if you were replying to a post for the first time).

4. Private Messages.

The Private Message facility has a limit of 400 "saved" messages, irrespective of if they are "sent" or received "messages".

5. Member Status.

As with most modern forum software we also have post counters.

The following are all Thunder Gods taken from a variety of mythologies:

Set (Egyptian mythology) = 1-499 posts.
Chaac (Maya mythology) = 500-999 posts.
Jupiter (Roman mythology) = 1000-1999 posts.
Thor (Norse mythology) = 2000-3999 posts.
Taranis (Celt mythology) = 4000-5999 posts.
Zeus (Greek mythology) = 6000-7999 posts.
Thunderbird (Native American mythology) = 8000 posts + over.

6. Logging in.

If you have difficulty logging in try this:

Go onto the front/main page with your mouse (somewhere in the middle).
Right click and hit "refresh" or "reload" (depending on if you use Internet Explorer or Firefox).

If this fails send and e-mail to admin@thunderbird1600.com mentioning which browser you are using and we'll get back to you.

Posts remain editable for 24 hours after being submitted ... after which they remain permanent.

Any requests for deletion can be made to me for consideration.

Hey Boomer,

Is it possible for you to add a feature to allow a user to bookmark as a "Favorite Thread" WITHOUT creating a new entry or post? As an example, I had to make this entry in order to get to the "Favorite Thread" checkbox.

Just wondering if you have that kind of programming ability/access to the forum codebase.

Thanks!

Sure, let me think about where to place the checkbox in order not to clutter up/overload the posts.

Sure we do, we created this mess from scratch.

Boomer,
The size of my photo I tried to attach is way bigger than allowed. Any tricks to cut down the size.
I am a complete novice at this !

Here you go magpie - a bit of Forum Search: 'Photo Resize':

Birdy68 wrote:

You could also use one of the Microsoft Power Toys for Windows XP - 'Image Resizer'. Here is the direct link to the set up file

Or you could use the Photo Gadget Photo Resizer (Win 98/2000/XP) Here is the direct link to the set up file.

Once you have installed one of them, simply go into windows explorer (I assume you are working with Micro$hit like I HAVE too) - select the files to resize - click the RIGHT mouse button - select 'resize Pictures' from pop-up window - choose the resize format you want - FINITO!
Easy - Peasy.

I usually resize my pictures from the camera. The origional sizes are normally around 3264 x 2448 pixles and 2 MB.
I then resize them down to 800x600 pixles and end up with a file size of around 150 kb!!

Hope it helps.

What do you think about putting it to the left of the "reply" button?

Great addition, thanks!! I forgot to check the little box a couple of times and wondered how to put them in favorites after the fact.

Thanks again for the fast work on the new "Favorites" button(s).

I could use that now, we got hit with 8" of blowing snow and we're dipping down to 2* tonight. Days like this I get to spend on a 4-wheeler plowing snow.

Yes, if you remove photos your post has nothing to link to.

Hello Thanassis

The text below is from the Orignal Thread here..

Last night and again this mornig after I re read the above instructions I tried to upload a photo from my album to a thread. but once I go to the part and selected the photo in my album I couldent find a way of getting it to attach to the thread. ie usually the link appears in the dialogue box and then you click on the upload button and it all happens

What happens after you have selected the picture in the album?????????????

You have to click in the box 'image / file' first, then choose 'use photo album', choose your pic and upload.

Oih Mat & Bed.
Sorry guys but It dosent work for me that way. I can click into file box as instructed and as soon as I click on the Album Button the blinking cursor in the file box dissapears and it then goes into the search phase where you can get through to the album and identify the photo but that it, Once I have identified the photo it comes up for viewing but the file address does not go back into file address box allowing it ot be uploaded as usual.

Am I missing something as I have tried it a number of times using My album as well as Mats. somehow Iam missing being able ot get the photo address back into the address box.

Hello Bedouin

Does the Forum System have the ability to be able to link back to a previous thread that is already on the Forum.

If it can what are the steps to do it ?
